SALVAGED CARS for sale what is the best place to buy? where are the best auctions? cheap cars to fix up?

there really isn't any cheap ones anymore, the ones that are fixable cost about as much as a good one from a car lot would cost you,the price of the salvage ones is really high right now,and one other thing people aren't wanting to buy re-built cars right now they are tired of getting cars that aren't worth as much as a regular car is,i used to buy these and repair them, and it got bad enough that i got out of it,their just aren't many that are worth fooling with, you can find out about salvage sales through any body shop, but you have to be a licensed buyer to buy these, your better off buying them from insurance company's,any insurance company in your area that has a few of them will be glad to get rid of them, try state farm, any insurance company should have a few of them somewhere in a yard waiting to be sold off, good luck with it.SALVAGED CARS for sale what is the best place to buy? where are the best auctions? cheap cars to fix up?

Come down to Katrina land.. there are many cars here that need rebuilding.... (Louisiana that is)

Truthfully, It's one of those things you have to ask around about as some salvage yards specialize in salvage wrecks that can be rebuilt as most junk yards buy cars that are usually too old to rebuild...

Best place is to become friends with some junk yards and cruise the local car shopper magazines (It's where I found a few of them)..

Auctions won't deal with you unless you have a line of credit of at least 6-7 figures and have a license to buy and sell in your state.

I'd stay away from flooded cars due to the problems they can cause you.. best to do the theft (chop shop) rebuilds first even though the market is very tight on those (as they are the easiest to rebuild.. and normally don't have a salvage title on them)
actually the best place to buy is your local paper . look for the price range you want , call them up and go check them out . most people sell cheaper than advertised. i used to work the auctions in Florida and this is the way we found cars to take to auction. you have to haggle a Lil bit point out the things that are wrong on the vehicle etc... putting out an add will also help stating ';we buy cars any condition'; this will appeal to those with fixer uppers for sell. then ween out want you don't want.
dont buy a salvaged car unless your a mechanic and can fix the car yourself. i had a salvaged car once and was treated like it had the black plague because whenever i took it to a dealer or maintenance garage the mechanics and advisors acted like they didnt want to touch it. they didnt want to have anything to do with it like it was a diesease. they all said i should return my car where i bought it because no matter how i fix it, the car is too dangerous to drive and that it should have been totalled. dont waste your money on salvaged cars that were in accidents, or no mechanic will touch your car
Salvage auto auctions are your best bet. The inventory moves quickly so you have many choices and the deals are excellent.

What part of the country do you live in? There are a lot of salvage auto auctions around the country. Some you need to have a auto dealer's license to enter and others are open to the public. Having a line of credit is not necessary but you would have to have a cashier's check or cash to cover your purchase.

Look up Insurance Auto Auction on the internet they are one of the biggest. Copart is another.

Be careful with salvaged cars! In some states, you can NOT, put a salvaged car on the road, the salvaged title is given for a junk yard PARTS car only. Check with your state motor vehicle agency. Good Luck.
