CorbinMotors.com, the ';Company'; was formed on March 29, 1999 for the express purpose of manufacturing high quality, uniquely designed, environmentally friendly urban vehicles. The Company was spun-off from Corbin-Pacific, Inc., a preeminent supplier of a wide range of motorcycle seats, saddle bags, fenders, fairings and chin spoilers. On October 29, 1999 the Company changed its name to CorbinMotors.com as a result of more than 70 percent of vehicle sales having originated from our internet website.
The Sparrow has been in development at Corbin Pacific, the 30-year old parent company, since January 1996. In April, 1999, the Sparrow passed final testing for DOT Certification. In September of 1999 the Sparrow production line started manufacturing multiple vehicles. Numerous trademark and patent applications are pending, and two design patents and one mechanical patent have been issued on the Sparrow to date. As of November 2000, 195 Sparrows have been manufactured and 580 Sparrow reservations have been accepted.
The Sparrow is a single-passenger, three-wheeled electric vehicle that:

Has a top speed of 70 mph and a range of 40 to 60 miles per charge
Plugs into an ordinary 110-volt electrical outlet and fully recharges in 6 hours (in 3 hours with a 220-volt)
The Sparrow's spherical reinforced composite body provides a strong and light-weight protective shell over the stable three-wheeled chassis. Rear storage compartment is approximately 6.5 c.f. with separate lockable hatch. The driver's compartment is fully equipped, just like a regular car, with operator indicators and controls. The dashboard contains LED displays of current battery status and other real time operating conditions. Standard features are power windows, parking brake, seat belt, directional signals and 4-way flashing hazard lights, hydraulic disc brakes, rear view and side mirrors, windshield wiper and washer. The Sparrow includes the usual creature comforts, too AM/FM radio and CD player, heater, vents, adjustable tilt steering wheel, sun visor and a ergonomic adjustable driver's seat with a built- in headrest.
Footprint: 57 in. (144.78 cm) tall, 100 in. (254 cm) long, and 50 in. (127 cm) wide: weighs 1600 lbs (720 k).
Powered by thirteen rechargeable 12-volt batteries (156 volts), the Sparrow has a top speed of 70 mph. The on-board battery charger plugs into any household 110-volt or 220-volt outlet, recharges in 2 to 6 hours and has a range of 40-60 miles. In most states, the Sparrow is registered as a motorcycle and can enjoy the benefits of parking in motorcycle spaces, legal use of commuter lanes, and lower registration and insurance costs.
Classified as a zero emissions vehicle (ZEV), the clean-air, electric Sparrow allows the commuter to maintain freedom, independence and solitude while putting an end to fume-filled cities by greatly reducing traffic congestion, pollution, and parking problems and is eligible for ZEV incentive programs.

Yes, there are a number of electric cars with limited mileage and speed. Most have a top speed of 25 mph, but the ZAP Xebra can go 40 mph and gets 40 miles per charge. It costs under $10,000.

A battery electric vehicle (BEV) is an electric vehicle that utilizes chemical energy stored in rechargeable battery packs. There are two cars I know of. Both come out in 2008. The first is the Telsa Roadster. It is a sports car and has an acceleration rate faster than a Ferrari. 0-60 in 4 seconds! It is expensive but you will save lots of money since you will not be using gasoline.
The other is the ZAP X Crossover Electric Car. ZAP is a car company that sells electric cars. The base is in Santa Rosa. ZAP claims that the car can go to 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. The car has 644 horsepower. The clearance on the car is almost a SUV's
