No title cars for sale in Illinois?

Ive been lookin for a beater to fix and drive since i dont have alot of money, but it seems like alot of them are being sold without titles. Is it easy to get a title for a car like these? In michigan i could file for a ';lost title'; and get one with just a bill of sale. Does it work like that here? I just moved here.No title cars for sale in Illinois?
What I assume is that you are looking at really old cars that maybe have been sitting for a long time. What you need to do is get the serial number and get the DMV to search their files. That should tell you if there are prior owners or more importantly liens. If there is no record found you can try to register it as a no title car. If there is a record you need to try and contact the registered owner. If you can not find him then you need to do a lien sale. Just pretend the car has been abandoned on your property and go from there. If the seller is the registered owner then you can get him to sign a request for duplicate title form and transfer it with that and a bill of sale.
